Shiva idol found in Bhind

Bhind (MP), Oct 5: A two-and-half foot silver Shiva idol, weighing about 1.5 quintal, has been found while digging a swimming pool on a private land at Soi Kanawar village in Phooph area in this district, official sources said yesterday.

The black-colour idol, believed to be of archaeological importance, was found while digging swimming pool on Mr Raja Saheb Bhadauria's land.

On learning about the discovery, villagers gathered at Mr Bhadauria's residence and starting singing bhajans.

District Collector Rashmi Sanjeev Sharma said he had heard about the discovery of Shiva idol.

Archaeological department officials will be sent to look into the matter and the government will take the idol in its possession if found to be of archaeological importance.
