Off-spinner Dan Cullen to replace Stuart Clark in Aussie CT squad
Sydney, Oct 5 (UNI) Australia today named off-spinner Dan Cullen as the replacement for injured medium pacer Stuart Clark in their squad for the Champions Trophy in India starting October 7.
Cricket Australia (CA), in a statement issued here, confirmed that Cullen will replace Clark, who has been ruled out with a thigh injury, in the 14-man Australian squad. The CA, however, is still required to gain ICC approval for replacing the injured pacer.
''This came out of the blue but naturally I'm really excited about the opportunity,'' Cullen said after being selected.
''It's really disappointing for Stuart to miss out with an injury and I'm sure that everyone wishes him the best for a speedy recovery. However, it's now up to me to take this opportunity and put my best foot forward for the team and I'm really looking forward to going to India,'' he added.
Cullen is currently in transit from Mooloolaba in Queensland where he has been participating in a pre-season camp with the South Australian squad.
