Tirunelveli, Oct 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and President of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) M Karunanidhi, today said there was no place for the MDMK in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA).

Talking to mediapersons before kickstarting his electioneering for the local body polls here, he said the party's door was open for MDMK cadres, but not for the MDMK.

Mr Karunanidhi was responding to a question whether the party would take back the MDMK on the lines of accommodating the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) in the DPA.

If the DPI had quit the DPA prior to the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the MDMK, led by firebrand leader Vaiko, had walked out of the DPA just prior to the May 8 assembly elections.

Both the parties had fought the assembly elections in alliance with the AIADMK. But the DPI, after completing the seat sharing talks with the AIADMK, quit the front and come back to the DMK fold alleging that it was insulted.

Answering a question, Mr Karunanidhi said the party was confident of winning the civic polls and replied in the negative when asked whether entry of rebels in the fray would affect the prospects of party's victory.
