MHA reviews security for Champions Trophy

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) The Home Ministry today discussed the security arrangements to be made for the Champions Trophy in four cities during October eight to November five.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior official Retnakar Shetty held a 30-minute long meeting with Home Secretary V K Duggal in his North Block office.

Prof Shetty told UNI later that the discussion was mainly on the security arrangements to be made in Mohali, Mumbai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad where cricket matches are being held during October eight and November five.

He said security arrangements in places of stay of members of the participating teams and also places of their training figured at the meeting.

Replying to a question, Prof Shetty said there was no apprehension about any security threat. "We have successfully organised World Cup in 1987 and 1996 without any problems." "However, security is government responsibility and we cannot take private security," he said.
