HC order on Gajurel

Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Madras High Court today directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), Egmore to detain the Nepal Maoist leader Chandraprakash Gajurel till October 10 to enable him to challenge any order likely to be passed by the CMM on October 9, if it was adverse to him.

Justice A C Arumughaperumal Adityan gave the directive on a plea by Sankarasubbu, counsel for Gajurel, to this effect.

The judge ordered notice returnable by two weeks to Inspector of Police, Bakthinagar Police Station, West Bengal and Superintendent, Central Prison, Chennai, on a revision petition by Gajurel against the CMMS's September 21 order, rejecting his plea that he should not be confined further without a valid order of remand and that there were no grounds to issue a transit warrant.
