Kerala: 5 more suspected Chikungunya deaths

Alappuzha, Oct 5: Five more suspected Chikungunya deaths were reported from the Cherthala taluk here this morning, taking the toll to 80.

Vijaya(58) of Ward 20, Raman(75) of Pattavakadu, Raghavan(80) of Naneermukkom, Vishwambharan(60) and Murali(35) from Thuravoor panchayat were the persons who died of the suspected fever.

Meanwhile, a three-member World Health Organisation (WHO) team and a six-member National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD) team were on a visit to the area to assess the situation.
