Cong leader lambasts Oppn on Polavaram
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 5 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader Mallur Ravi today lambasted the Opposition parties for politicising the Polavaram Project issue Speaking to mediapersons at Kovvali Village in Denduluru Mandal, Dr Ravi, who was also the Party Spokesman in New Delhi, called upon the Opposition to press the Centre for expeditious clearance of the project.
At a meeting in the national capital a couple of days ago, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Governments agreed to take up a joint survey of the project. The survey report would be submitted to the Central Water Commission (CWC).
Work on as many as 25 irrigation projects were underway in the state and two or three projects had to get environmental clearance.
Dr Ravi said Polavaram was the dream project of Andhra Pradesh and would be constructed at any cost.
He also claimed the relief and rehabilitation package was equivalent to the project cost.
Referring to Ichampalli Project across River Godavari, Dr Ravi said the multi-purpose project would benefit not only Andhra Pradesh, but also Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
