BSF kills Bangladeshi smuggler, injures another

Agartala, Oct 5 (UNI) Border Security Force jawans shot dead a Bangladeshi and injured another when they were smuggling logs by cutting the fence in Tripura's Dhalai district early today.

According to BSF sources here, a gang of 15 Bangladeshi log smugglers was engaged in smuggling the logs at a place between Madhabnagar and Samarganj, under Manu police station at about 0330 hours cutting the fence on the international border.

When the BSF patrol party challenged the miscreants, they were attacked with sharp weapons. The jawans opened fire in which a smuggler was killed on the spot. The other members sustained bullet injuries and crossed over to Bangladesh.

The BSF recovered the wooden logs and handed those over to the forest department, sources said.

Police officials from Manu led by the SDPO, have rushed to the spot, sources added.
