AP CM reviews apparel park progress
Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today urged Brandix, which was setting up the third biggest apparel park in the world, to generate large-scale employment opportunities even as he assured the company of providing all the facilities.
An official release quoted Dr Reddy as saying the project will eventually employ 65,650 people with a total investment pegged at Rs 5,000 crore.
He was reviewing the status of Brandix India Apparel City project coming up in the 1000-acre area at Visakhapatnam with Labour Minister G Vinod, Brandix Lanka Ltd CEO Ashroff Omar and senior officials.
Once completed, Brandix would be the third biggest apparel park next to the ones in China and Mexico, according to Mr Omar.
Mr Omar said works taken up at a cost of Rs 150 crore were under different stages of progress. Except Environmental Clearance (CEC), the other approvals for SEZ and approval as Textile Park was obtained from the Centre. The EC was expected by November this year.
The financial closure for first phase was completed. Pending clearances, production was initiated at alternate sites.
As many as 200 women operators were already employed and being trained, he added.
