Airport clash: Governor seeks report

Bhopal, Oct 5 (UNI) Expressing concern over this morning's clash between the police and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) near the local airport, Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar sought a report from the government.

''Let it be made clear that the incident will not affect the law and order situation in this city and the rest of the state,'' Raj Bhavan sources quoted the governor as saying in a letter.

The clash occurred after senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani arrived by flight and left for Bairagarh for a programme.

The BJYM activists objected against Bhopal Municipal Corporation Chairman Ramdayal Prajapati's vehicle being halted by the police.

The Morcha's Bhopal district President Rajput disputed with traffic police Inspector Vikram Singh Raghuvanshi. Mr Rajput and BJYM workers even assaulted the officer. A case was registered.

It is believed that Dr Jakhar is concerned over the recent death of a professor at Ujjain's Madhav College during student violence, several pilgrims being swept away in Datia district's Sindh river and cashbooks disappearing from the protocol office.
