60 taking part in MTB cycle rally

Shimla, Oct 5 (UNI) Sixty participants from six countries are taking part in the second trans Himalayan International Hercules MTB cycle rally mountain biking championship that was flagged off from here early today.

The rally would pass through 650 km of the rough hilly terrain before coming to an end at Manali on October 13, said Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association President Mohit Sood.

The event has been getting a good response from the participants with over 60 participants taking part in the rally this year as against only 36 last year, he said.

Mr Sood said the MTB rally was among the best and was now being considered in the league of Trans Alps Europe and Trans Rocky Canada.

Apart from 10 member Army team, 19 foreigners from the US, Britain, Belgium, Hungary, Malaysia and New Zealand were here to take part in the rally.
