6 dengue cases in Varanasi
Varanasi, Oct 5 (UNI) With one more patient being reported during the last 24 hours, a total of six cases, including a British national, are undergoing treatment for dengue fever in two hospitals here.
Chief Medical Superintendent of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) S Churamani Gopal told UNI here that a woman suffering from the vector-borne disease was reported at the hospital last evening. The patient belonging to Varanasi is presently being treated at a separate ward, he added.
Five cases of dengue fever have been reported to the Heritage Hospital here during the last week. Medical superintendent of the hospital Brigadier P S R Aiyyar said of the five patients, three belonged to Varanasi, one from Noida and another a British tourist.
All the five patients are being treated at a special ward.
State Health Department, getting to know of the six confirmed dengue cases has sounded an alert in the city and resorted to fumigation in two affected localities -- Assi and Nadesar, Chief Medical Officer A P Singh said.
