UCM appeals not to attack Meitei script

Imphal, Oct 3 (UNI) The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has appealed to all not to attack vehicles having number plates written in Meitei script.

In a statement here today, the UCM said members of the All Naga Students' Association had attacked vehicles on the NH 39 in Senapati district having number plates written in Meitei script.

Such action will lead to communal tension, the UCM said and reminded that for almost 2000 years the people of the region had been living together peacefully.

It appealed to the government to do something on the matter.

The ANSAM had decided to ban Meitei script and screening of all Manipuri films in the Naga-dominated areas.
