Two dengue cases reported in Jammu, alert sounded

Jammu, Oct 3 (UNI) After two suspected cases of dengue were reported from Jammu, the authorities here have sounded an alert.

A lady patient had died of the viral fever last week in Katra in Udhampur district. However, of the two new cases, one has already been cleared after necessary tests, while the other is hospitalised in Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), according to official sources.

A high-level meeting of the health department was held yesterday in the wake of hundreds of dengue cases in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The government has geared up to face any eventuality and steps were being taken to prevent the spread of the disease. People have been asked to keep their surroundings clean to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.
