TDP to mobilise stirs against Cong Govt
Hyderabad, Oct 3 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) tonight decided to step up agitations against the Congress government on various issues including alleged rampant corruption in irrigation initiative and other projects and price rise.
Addressing newspersons on decisions taken by the politburo chaired by TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, TDP Parliamentary Party Leader K Yerran Naidu said the party, which had moved the High Court against alleged irregularities in the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project had decided to join hands with other parties, including the CPI, CPI(M), TRS and BJP to 'expose' the Rajasekhara Reddy government.
The TDP would hold a meeting of all opposition parties on October five to carry forward the agitation programme, he added.
Flouting the Centre's guidelines, the Reddy Government was acquiring lands from poor farmers at a throw-away price and was selling them to industries for setting up Special Economic Zones, to net crores of rupees, he charged.
The politburo decided to gear up the TDP apparatus for the by-poll to the Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha seats.
The party would hold detailed training programmes this month for those elected to Local Bodies, General Secretary K Srihari informed.
The party constituted a Committee headed by former Union Minister Ummareddy Venkateswarulu to oversee the finalisation of voters list for the elections to the legislative council, he added.
