Sugar strike in protest of VAT

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) Trading in the sugar market came to a halt today in support of the Maharashtra essential commodities market in protest against the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed by the government, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association today said.

Federation of Associations of Maharashtra president Mohan Gurnani said the retail traders will decided an indefinite bandh if the government fails to withdraw the VAT by October 10 this year.
