State bids farewell to the monsoon after a week
Kolkata, Oct 03 (UNI) With heavy rains and almost five bouts of low pressures accompanied with depressions, its time for the monsoon to bid adieu to the West Bengal.
The met department said the monsoon has become very week and it would remain for three more days in the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and for almost one more week in the Gangetic Bengal.
''The monsoon is going back and you can enjoy a dry climate after one more week,'' said Met warden K Sitaram.
They also said a cyclonic circulation had been lying over the sub-himalayan part of the state and Sikkim extending upto one km to the atmospheric levels.
Under the influence of this circulation it had been raining hard for past two days and would continue for a day more, they said.
The city, however, experienced a sunny weather in the morning but had a few bouts of rainfall in the later part of the day.
However, they have forecast a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells at isolated places.
The citizens celebrated the immersion of Goddess Durga with huge processions amidst a few drizzles.
The maximum temperature was a bit normal at 32 degree Celsius and the minimum 26.4 degree Celsius.
The relative humidity was at 97 per cent.
