Sehwag to be fit for Champions trophy

Chennai, Oct 3 (UNI) Injured Team India vice-captain Virender Sehwag is expected to be fit in time for the Champions Trophy but will sit out of the final match of the Challenger Series for N K P Salve trophy here tomorrow.

Sehwag is nursing a strained ligament in the right ankle but the injury is not serious enough for the Delhi batsman to be ruled out of the Champions trophy, the Indian team management said here today.

''Sehwag will be fit by then (Champions Trophy). He has been asked to skip the Challenger final as a precaution,'' team sources said.

Sehwag sustained the injury while completing a second run during his opening stand with Sachin Tendulkar for India Blue in the first match of the Series against India Red.
