Ruling SP leader, 3 others killed in road mishaps

Sitapur, Oct 3 (UNI) Four people, including a senior ruling Samajwadi Party leader, were killed and as many injured in two road accidents here in the last 24 hours.

Official sources said SP leader Khurshid Alam and his aides were en route to Meerut today when their jeep hit a tree near Maholi bypass and fell into a pond.

Those killed included Mr Alam and jeep driver Iliyas. Three others including corporator Rafiq Ansari were injured in the mishap.

In another incident, a speeding roadways bus hit a jeep and a motorcycle on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway late last night.

The deceased were identified as Rajkumar Singh of Maigalganj and jeep passenger Dhaniram.

The jeep driver, Hira Singh, sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
