Ramadoss criticises JIPMER stir against autonomy

Puducherry, Oct 3 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss today reiterated that the territorial administration had failed to provide adequate security to JIPMER employees who wished to work during the 22-day strike at the institution.

Addressing a press conference here he said security was sought for the employees in the court in the presence of Puducherry Insepctor General of Police and the District Collector. This will portray a good image to the territorial administration.

Had those seeking political advantage by instigating the employees, been prevented from entering the campus beforehand, the strike could have been averted, he added.

Dr Ramadoss charged that there was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image and lower the standard of JIPMER to help the private medical colleges here to flourish.

Already the union territory with a population of about ten lakh had eight private medical colleges and nobody knew how many more are there in the pipeline, he said, and charged that private medical college managements had 'purchased' political parties.

He said strike was a fundamental right of an employee. However, there were certain exceptions such as newspapers, and essential services like hospitals and milk.

He appealed to the political parties to change their stance and refrain from blindly supporting this kind of strike in future.

He alleged that false information was provided to the court in this case.

He also charged AIADMK leader Ms Jayalalitha of adopting double standards and added when she was in power, she had suppressed all agitations with an iron hand. But now when she is in the opposition, she was instigating strikes.

Stating that the governments may change but administration would continue, Dr Ramdoss urged the officals not to deviate from their responsibilities.

To a question whether he would demand that chief minister Mr Rangasamy must be removed, he said it was up to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and the DMK as the Cetnral government was running with the support of DMK.
