Paddy arrivals pick up in Haryana
Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) The arrival of paddy has picked up in Haryana and so far 5.37 lakh metric tonnes has arrived in the 173 mandis of the state.
While stating this here today, Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan said that out of the total paddy arrival, 4.33 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by the five state government agencies at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The remaining 1.03 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included 56,454 metric tonnes leviable and 46,978 metric tonnes non-leviable paddy.
He said that Food and Supplies Department had procured 1.50 lakh metric tonnes, Hafed 1.89 lakh metric tonnes, Confed 29,968 metric tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 49,538 metric tonnes and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 13,459 metric tonnes.
Mr Chander Mohan, who also holds the Food and Supplies portfolio said that Kurukshetra district was leading with 1.74 lakh metric tonnes of paddy followed by Karnal with 1.31 lakh metric tonnes. In Fatehabad district the figure was 88,577 metric tonnes and in Kaithal it was 65,243 metric tonnes.
He said that the state government had arranged Rs 1000 crore so that the payment of the farmers could be made within 48 hours to 72 hours of their produce being procured. He appealed to the farmers to bring their paddy clean and parched so that they could get remunerative prices for their produce.
