No plans to retire from singing: Janaki
Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh Oct 3 (UNI) The famous playback singer S Janaki today said she would not retire from singing and would live for the sake of singing.
Talking to newspersons here Ms Janaki, who rendered more than 16,000 songs, not only in all the South Indian languages, but in Hindi as well, said the newcomers were singing well with the technology development. The instruments were dominating the field now, she added.
She said, being a Telugu woman, she learnt Tamil with the help of a teacher, who resided opposite to her house in Chennai. She used to write down the song in Telugu, and render it in whichever language she was supposed to sing, she added.
The ace playback singer said that she never could dream of becoming a singer and if she has attained succees, it was only due to the mercy of Almighty.
Ms Janaki said that she was singing since 1957, but in those days remuneration was very less. At present the situation was much better for the newcomers, she added.
She said, artists had yeaned for recognition from the authorities in time, which would help them to grow further in the field.
