Montek to inaugurate workshop on energy efficiency tomorrow

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia will inaugurate a two-day workshop on "Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Building Codes" being held here from tomorrow.

The workshop, organised by the Power Ministry and International Energy Agency (IEA), will discuss issues related to Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Building Codes in IEA countries and the initiatives taken so far in India.

Participants will get a comprehensive overview of key issues and perspectives on energy efficiency in buildings and building codes in IEA countries while policymakers will be familiarised with the cost-benefits and mechanics of creating and implementing a building code.

Power Secretary R V Shahi will deliver the keynote address.

Mr William C Ramsay, Deputy Executive Director, IEA, will also address the inaugural session.

Delegates from Central/State Government departments, builders, planners, architects, and local municipalities are expected to attend the workshop.
