K'taka CM wants withdrawal of bandh call
Mysore, Oct 3: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today appealed for withdrawal of the bandh call given for tomorrow to support the State's case in the Belgaum border dispute with Maharashtra.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said the Government was not in a position to support the bandh. The agitation was not necessary at the present situation as the Government had sent across a strong message to both the Union Government and Maharashtra on the issue by holding a special session of the Legislature in Belgaum, he added.
Stating that Belgaum was a part of Karnataka and the Mahajan Commission report on the issue was final, the Chief Minister said the only solution to the decade-long row was for the Union Government to implement the report in toto. When the Mahajan Commission was constituted by the Centre, both the State Governments had agreed to implement the report and now there was no point in Maharashtra raking up the issue, he said.
