JD(U) flays political parties for demanding clemency to Afzal

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav today criticised political parties for opposing the capital punishment granted to accused of Parliament attack Mohammad Afzal and said that it would affect the fight against terrorism.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Yadav said the decision of capital punishment to Afzal has been taken by the court through a due proces of law. He also had legal remedy.

''It is not proper on the part of political party, leaders or individuals to take up the issue now,'' Mr Yadav said when asked about his reaction to the Congress leader and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and many other leaders demanding clemency for Afzal.

Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have opposed the capital punishment to Afzal.
