HP seeks consultancy for rationalisation of employees
Shimla, Oct 3 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said his government was planning to engage a consultancy to advice it on the rationalisation of its staff for the efficient administrative management of its departments, boards, corporations and universities.
''Improved official functioning is necessary to bring about transparency and efficiency in the government,'' he said, while addressing the teaching and non-teaching staff of HP University after laying the foundation stone of the multi-faculty building to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.58 crore here.
Mr Singh said the government was considering a proposal to engage consultancy to advise the government on the rationalisation of the staff for their optimum utilisation.
Parametres have to be arrived at to ascertain the requisite number of specific categories of employees required for specific duties, he said.
He said adequate people should be posted at places where workload was heavy to ensure that no work was left pending and all administrative papers were cleared on time.
Claiming that his government was maintaining cordial relations with the employees, besides providing financial benefits to them from time to time, he said the state government was always considerate towards their genuine demands.
The chief minister called upon the University teachers and other educational institutions to re-dedicate themselves towards teaching their students sincerely Lok Sabha member from Mandi constituency, Pratibha Singh, H S Bhajji, University Vice-Chancellor L R Verma and several other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
