German woman's assailant arrested

Dharamshala, Oct 3 (UNI) A youth who allegedly attacked a German woman at an isolated place in Kangra district yesterday was arrested, Police sources said today.

The sources said the youth, identified as Shami, 23, was apprehended from Triund region of the district on the basis of the description provided by Ms Karina Steim, who was undergoing treatment at a government hospital here.

Shami had alleged attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon after she had spurned his offer for sex.

The sources said Ms Steim had also identified Shami in an identification parade. The youth had confessed to his crime, they added.

The sources said a case had been registered under Sections 341, 323, 354, and 506 of the IPC.
