FIRs against JD(U) MLA
Chhapra, Oct3 (UNI) The police today registered FIRs against JD(U) MLA Ram Pravesh Rai in connection with two separate cases related to thrashing of a businessman and an attack on the residence of one Feroz Khan in Saran district.
Police Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Singh said Suman Kumar, a businessmen, had been ruthlessly beaten up by the MLA's supporters after they were allegedly instigated by him on September 28, following the murder of Shashi Bhushan Sharma, a close aide of the JD(U) leader.
In another case, goons allegedly patronised by Mr Rai, had attacked the residence of one Feroz Khan in which his relatives -- Munni and Noor Jahan-- had sustained injuries. Later, Munni succumbed to her injuries while Noor Jahan was still struggling for the life in a local hospital, he added.
Mr Singh said that FIRs were lodged at the Bhagwan Bazar Police Station in connection with both the cases. A police team had been constituted and raids were being carried out to arrest the JD(U) MLA, he added.
Meanwhile, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi has demanded a CBI inquiry into the whole episode and has asked the government to immediately arrest the erring JD(U) leader.
She alleged that the law and order situation had deteriorated during the NDA rule and the government had failed to protect lives and property of the people.
She also demanded from the state government to offer a government job to one member of the bereaved family.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief spokesman Kripanath Pathak also condemned the incident and demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the deceased.
