Drop Dhavlikar from cabinet: GPCC
Panaji, Oct 3 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), under the presidentship of Ravi Naik, today unanimously passed a resolution and demanded that PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, a member of the Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) which is a partner in the Congress-led coaliation government, should be immediately dropped from the cabinet and the alliance with the party be disbanded.
Also present at the meeting were chief minister Pratapsinh Rane and his cabinet colleagues.
Congress spokesperson Vishnu Wagh told mediapersons here today that the resolution was proposed by Sanjay Bandekar and seconded by Francis Fernandes.
Mr Wagh said the senior Congress leaders will leave for Delhi on October five to meet the party high command and demand to drop Dhavlikar immediately.
He said the Congress party workers have been constantly complaining for the past more than one year about arrogant, non- cooperative attitude of Mr Dhavlikar towards the Congress workers.
There were also complaints that the minister told the Congress members not to approach him as members of the Congress party, Mr Wagh informed.
He said the minister had announced unilaterally that the MGP would contest 24 seats in a 40-member assembly and unofficially projected prospective candidates in some of these constituencies, one of them being his own brother.
Mr Dhavlikar had started financing these candidates including one in the Ponda constituency, represented by the President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Wagh added.
