Dr. Raj's family ventures into Hotel Industry
Bangalore, Oct 3: Late Dr. Rajkumar, the veteran Kannada actor, needs no introduction. He was extremely popular and the title he won 'Annavru' stands proof to it.
Dr. Raj had acted in over 200 films and he even won the Padmabhushan award for his contribution to films. Almost all his films were a hit with the people and his fan-following was ever growing. The support he enjoyed from his fans has no match. The furore that was raised by Dr. Raj's fans when he was kidnapped by Veerappan is unforgettable.
As Annavru retired from movies, his sons took up acting as a career option. His wife, Parvathamma Rajkumar, also runs a production house which has so far produced several successful Kannada films. But now, after Dr. Rajkumar's death, his family is slowly diverting attention to hotel industry.
Recently, Parvathamma Rajkumar inaugurated the luxurious Dr. Rajkumar International Hotel in Gandhinagar area in Bangalore. This five crores 5 storeyed hotel boasts of 51 well equipped rooms with internet facilities and conference hall.
Raghavendra Rajkumar, son of Late Dr. Rajkumar, told sources that the entry into hotel industry is basically to keep up finances. The family, however, will render its service to Kannada filmdom.
Sources were also told that Dr. Raj had dreamed of venturing into hospitality services and the family is now planning for a similar hotel to be opened in Mysore.
