Discharge increased to 18,000 cusecs

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 3 (UNI) The discharge from the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across River Cauvery was increased since last evening, following heavy demand from the ryots of the delta districts.

State PWD sources said about 10,000 cusecs of water was let out from the dam in addition to the existing discharge of 8,000 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the water level in the dam stood at 100.910 feet, this morning as against its full capacity of 120 feet.

The inflow was 11,292 cusecs.

From Grand Anaicut in Thanjavur District, about 707 cusecs of water was let out into River Cauvery, 2,383 cusecs into Vennar, 3,514 cusecs into Grand Anaicut Canal and 1,014 cusecs into Coleroon River for irrigation purposes, they added.
