Congress leader slams Modi for worshipping modern weapons on Dusehra

Ahmedabad, Oct 3 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Arjun Modhvadia today slammed Chief Minister Narendra Modi for performing a 'puja' of modern weapons on the occasion of Dusehra yesterday.

He said Mr Modi has made a mockery of the Indian tradition by doing so. ''Traditionally, a sword, which is considered a symbol of strength, is worshipped. The CM has insulted our tradition by doing poojan of modern weapons,'' he said in a statement.

He also pointed out that Mr Modi had violated Indian laws by bringing these weapons home. ''These weapons are being issued to trained armed units of police force only. Criminal prosecution can be initiated in case a common man brings such weapons to his residence without any license,'' he said.

Accusing him of being ''publicity'' hungry, Mr Modhvadia also criticised the Chief Minister for bringing foreign artistes to perform in revealing costumes instead of the traditional Ras Garba.
