City experiences highest power demand on September 27
Kolkata, Oct 3 (UNI) An all-time high power demand of 1356 MW in the CESC area was recorded on September 27 this puja.
Exactly a year ago on the same day the area occured the highest peak demand of 1343 MW, CESC sources here today informed.
Informing this CESC executive director Dilip Kumar Sen said, '' CESC successfully had been able to meet the all-time high demand from its own generation as well as from the State Electricity Board.'' The number of temporary supplies to Puja pandals in CESC area rose to 2885 this year against the previous year's 2801.
Moreover, the number of power theft cases this year has gone down to 115 from last year's 413 following intensive checks in Pandals,'' he said.
An analysis of applications received by CESC for temporary connections during the Puja reveals that the highest number of applications (430) were received from Howrah, followed by 417 in Northern Kolkata.
