Bus passenger killed in ambush

Agartala, Oct 3 (UNI) One person was killed and three others were injured when Suspected militants of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) ambushed a CRPF escort wehicle at National Highway.

The incident occurred at Chamalcherra in Tripura's West district when a wonvoy of about hundred vehicles was proceeding towards Silchar from here under CRPF escort, police said.

A bus passenger was killed and three others were seriously injured when militants fired indiscriminately from a hill top in Atharamura Hill ranges. The fire was returned by the escort party and the militants fled.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, police said.

However, there were no reports of any casualty or injury to the escort party.

The vehicles in these areas have been plying under security escorts since last few years because of the regular militants attacks Additional Security forces have rushed to the spot and launched a massive combing operation to nab the militants, sources said.
