We have forgotten the ideals of Gandhiji: Sibal
New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) Regretting that Indians had forgotten ideals of truth and non-violence put forward by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal today stressed on emulating Gandhiji's ideals in our lives so as to promote world peace and development and progress of India.
Speaking at a function to mark the end of the Gandhi Jayanti Mela organised by the MCD, Mr Sibal said,''Gandhiji struggled hard for independence of India. But it is unfortunate that we all are not fighting battle of Gandhiji today. We forgot the ideals of truth and non-violence of Gandhiji.'' In his address at the function, where Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri, chairman of the appointment committee Brij Mohan Sharma, municipal councillors Vinod Goel and Neetu Verma were present, Mr Sibal said, ''the need of hour is to re-enact ideals shown by this great saint of India and emulate these in our lives''.
He said that Gandhiji showed us the path of simplicity which we should adopt in our lives. It will be a true homage to Bapuji.
Organised by the MCD at the historic Roshnara Garden at Roshanara Road, the mela saw participation from many governmental and non-governmental organisations including Gandhian institutions.
