Two US scientists win Nobel medicine prize
STOCKHOLM, Oct 2 (Reuters) Americans Andrew Fire and Craig Mello won the 2006 Nobel prize for medicine for gene silencing by double-stranded RNA, the Nobel Assembly of Stockholm's Karolinska Institute said today.
They discovered a fundamental mechanism for controlling the flow of genetic information, it said, announcing the winners of the 1.37 million dollar prize.
