Torch light parade brings curtains down on Mysore Dasara festivities

Mysore, Oct 2 (UNI) A colourful torch light parade participated by hundreds of policemen and other security forces at Bannimantap stadium brought the curtains down on the world famous Mysore Dasara festivities here tonight.

The parade began with the Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi taking the guard. This was followed by an impressive march past and an attractive torch light parade taken part by policemen exhibiting their talent holding natural torches.

The highlight of the evening was laser show which lasted nearly 20 minutes. It focussed the 50 years of existence of Karnataka state. Later acrobatics by motor cycle born security personnel enthralled one and all.

Horse riding, show jumps, tent pegging show by the state mounted police was led by World Cup gold medalist and police official Mariba Shetty. The official had taken part in the parade for a record 27th time. There were other cultural shows by various dancing troupes.

Fire works, the last programme that the huge gathering awaited, lit the night sky with bright colours. This year's festivities that coincides with 50 years of formation of Karnataka state impressed lakhs of people who had descended on this heritage city.

Apart from the Governor, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and other ministers were among those in the audience.
