'Swayamvar' for HIV infected organised in Surat

Surat, Oct 2 (UNI) Network of Surat People having HIV /AIDS (NSP+) and the Gujarat State Network of People having HIV/AIDS (GSNP+) together organised a 'Swayamvar' programme to select their life partners.

The programme, which was organised yesterday at Loka Samparan Rakthdana Kendra in Varachha, in the city was attended by 12 girls and 55 boys from various parts of the country, the organisers said.

There were several sessions of counselling and group discussions to mentally prepare the partners for a married life.

President of GSNP+ Daksha Patel said the main aim of the programme was to inform the people about the complications involved in the case, if he or she opts for a marriage and how to face it, in spite of social objections.

The organisers said they received very good response from those who participated in the programme.

According to sources, the programme was a morale booster for many HIV infected people, who attended it.
