PM to highlight growing demand of services sector at ServinExpo'06
New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will highlight the growing demand of Indian trade and services sector while addressing a special session at an expo being organised here by the Department of Commerce in association with Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
The event, ServinExpo 2006, projecting five booming sectors -- travel and tourism, consulting services, educational services, healthcare services and science and technology and engineering-- will be inaugurated by newly appointed Commerce Secretary G K Pillai.
Experts from 35 countries will speak at the event. Delegates from the focus regions for trade in services, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, South East Asia, Africa, Latin America, CIS and west Asia will also participate in the event.
The three-day Congress seeks to address various cross-sectoral issues in the plenary on October 4 and 5 and in a panel-open house discussion. The valedictory will be organised on Octobr 6 to aummarise the recommendations.
Parallel to the Congress would be interactive sessions and an exposition wherein services from each of these sectors will be exhibited.
''This is the largest congregation of service sector in India.
Apart from 50 Indian service providers showcasing their service capabilities, we will have 42 interactive sessions and three plenary sessions,'' Conveyer of the International service Congress Nalin Kolhi said.
FIEO has partnered with UNCTAD, National Research Developmental Council, Consultancy Development Centre and several ministeries to create a cross-sectoral networking for improving global access to services.
