No complaints from Beckham about Real Madrid bench role
MADRID, Oct 2 (Reuters) Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham said he has no complaints about being consigned to the bench for his side's last four matches.
The former England captain has lost his place in the Real starting line-up since the arrival of Jose Antonio Reyes from Arsenal but has yet to voice his discontent about the situation.
''I can't complain because I'm not in the starting lineup,'' the 31-year-old was quoted as saying in the Spanish media today. ''There are a lot of players on the bench who are in the same circumstances.
''I will have to adapt to the new situation and work hard to win Capello's confidence. Reyes is a fantastic player and I can understand why he is playing.'' Real coach Fabio Capello gave Beckham some reason for optimism when he spoke after yesterday's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.
''We've got a good squad of 20 players and there will be some changes in the next few games,'' said the Italian.
Beckham's contract at Real expires at the end of the season, but the club and his representatives have said that they are in the process of negotiating a two-year extension.
