NLFT rebels gun down woman

Agartala, Oct 2 (UNI) Guerrilas of banned underground outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) shot dead a tribal woman in Tripura's west district last night.

Police said today that armed militants of NLFT (BM faction) attacked the 35-year-old tribal woman identified as Ramani Debbarma at a remote extremist dominated area under Champahowar police station of Khowai sub-division in wee hours of Navami night.

The reason behind the killing of the woman could not be ascertained as the police party, which rushed to the spot, did not send the detailed report of the incident.

Meanwhile, the four-day Durga puja festival passed off peacefully, police added.
