Georgia agrees handover of Russian army officers

TBILISI, Oct 2 (Reuters) Georgia today said it had agreed to hand over to international mediators four Russian army officers whose arrest last week on spying charges triggered a crisis between the two former Soviet states.

''The preliminary agreement has been ... to hand over the accused citizens of the Russian Federation, Russian officers, to the OSCE and the Chairman in office,'' Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili told a news briefing.

''I want to make it very ... clear: we have a very solid case of espionage, subversion, trying to destabilise my country.'' REUTERS LL BST1832
