EOW files chargesheet against senior IAS officer

Bhopal, Oct 2 (UNI) The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh filed a chargesheet against senior IAS officer and Chhattisgarh Prashasan Academy Director-General P Raghvan in a local court over financial irregularities in an autorickshaw scam.

Mr Raghvan appeared before the court and obtained bail in this connection yesterday.

He is dogged by the seven-year-old autorickshaw scam in the Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (MPSCFDC) where he was posted as the Managing Director in 1999.

EOW sources said cases had been registered against four other officers in this connection.

A chargesheet was presented against Mr Raghvan on September 29 after obtaining prosecution-related permissions from the state government and the Centre.

Mr Raghvan had dragged former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's name into the autorickshaw scam some days earlier saying that he was being named in the scam on Mr Singh's indications.

He had even described the Chhattisgarh Government's decision to allow his prosecution as a decision taken in haste.

The Chhattisgarh Government had sought clarification from him in this regard and Mr Raghvan was shifted from the office of the Chhattisgarh Revenue Board to the Chhattisgarh Prashasan Academy.
