Dussehra denotes win of truth over falsehood: Azad
Jammu, Oct 2 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 137th birth anniversary, and to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 102nd birth anniversary, at various places in Jammu today.
Minister of State for PHE Romesh Chander, addressing a function in Rajouri district, stressed the need for promoting cottage industry for solving the problem of unemployment and raising living standards of people of rural areas.
Highlighting the contribution of Bapuji in laying the foundation of modern and free India, Dr Sharma said that development of cottage industry for raising the economy of rural India was the most progressive and pragmatic solution for dragging the country out of vicious circle of poverty.
He said Mahatma's concept was to make rural population self reliant in all respects. Regretting the violence and bloodshed prevailing in the state for the last two decades, the minister said it is only by adopting Gandhiji's principal of non-violence that the human kind could achieve lasting peace. He said those who believe in violence are enemies of human kind.
