Dussehra celebrated with traditional gaiety in MP
Bhopal, Oct 2 (UNI) Commemorating the victory of truth over evil, the Hindu festival of Dussehra was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in Madhya Pradesh today.
Effigies of demon king Ravana, his brother Kumbhkaran and son Meghnad were burnt at several places in the state, while 'visarjan' (immersion) ceremony of Goddess Durga's idols also took place marking the conclusion of Navratra.
Meanwhile, Governor Blaram Jakhar greeted people on the occasion of Dussehra.
Addressing a large crowd at T T Nagar in the state capital, Dr Jakhar asked people not to merely celebrate the festival for entertainment but to do self-analysis to eliminate evils from inside and bring out nobler qualities.
He called upon people to work together and combat evils of society.
Meanwhile, state police control room informed that the festival was peacful and no untoward incident was reported.
