Damodara Swami succumbs to Imphal blast injuries

Imphal, Oct 2 (UNI) The International director of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), His Holiness Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami Srila Sripada died today.

He had sustained injuries at the ISKCON temple in the August 16 blast during the Janmashtami celebrations.

With his death, the toll in the temple blast rose to seven.

The Maharaj was also the governing body Commissioner of ISKCON.

Temple president Ajit Das said the Maharaj, who had been undergoing treatment in Kolkata, breathed his last around 2 am there.

His mortal remains would be flown in to Imphal later today and special prayers performed at the ISKCON temple.
