Chouhan denies his wife would contest from Budhni
Budhni, Oct 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today scotched up speculations that his wife Sadhna Singh or former Budhni legislator Rajendra Singh would contest the by-election from Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, which fell vacant after Mr Chouhan resigned from the seat.
''The BJP high command will decide the name of candidate from Vidisha seat,'' Mr Chouhan, who was here to attend a Dussehra programme, told reporters.
Vidisha is Considered safest seat of the BJP from where Mr Chouhan has been elected five times. Rumours were that the seat would be contested either by the CM's wife and or by Mr Singh, who resigned from Budhni seat in order to pave way for Mr Chouhan's entry into the state assembly.
He dodged questions on 'satyagrah' by tribals in some parts of the state saying that Dussehra was an occasion to put aside political differences and work together towards the state's development.
Earlier, the Chief Minister told a public gathering that Dussehra was an occasion to set aside all political differences and pledge to work towards welfare of society.
He said his being on the CM's post would be meaningful only if he could bring about development of the state besides welfare to poor.
He added that agricultural loans would be made available to farmers at seven per cent interest, while recommendations of the Bramhaswaroop Committee had been accepted for the welfare of government employees.
