Bihar joins nation in celebrating Gandhi Jayanti

Patna, Oct 2 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today led Bihar in remembering the Father of the Nation on his 137th birth anniversary by organising various functions befitting the occasion.

Floral tributes were paid to Gandhiji's statue at Gandhi Maidan here in the central celebration where Mr Kumar, his cabinet colleagues and other distinguished persons took part.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumar exhorted the people to inculcate a spirit of sacrifice for the nation taking a cue from the life of Mahatma Gandhi and reaffirm their pledge to maintain communal peace and harmony.

A large number of people visited the Gandhi Museum here where a number of personal articles used by Gandhiji, including his footwear, are put on display today.

Functions were held at a number of political party offices and educational institutions to mark the occasion.
