1 Killed, 18 injured in blast at Puja Pandal
Guwahati, Oct 2 (UNI) A minor boy was killed and 18 others were injured, five of them seriously, when the ULFA exploded a hand granade at Dhemaji Chari-Aali Durga Puja pandal early today.
The deceased, identified as Debobrata Dihingia(8), died on the spot.
Of the injured, the condition of five was stated to be critical.
They were shifted to the Asom Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, while 13 were admitted to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital. The injured included four police personnel.
Dhemaji Superintendent of Police Mridulananda Sarma said cadres of the United Liberation Front of Asom hurled the hand granade at a patrolling police party at the local Chari-Ali Durga Puja pandal, injuring eighteen people.
No arrest was possible till now.
This is the third bomb explosion by the banned organisation during the last four days, each time targeting a crowded place.
