Transport Dept decides to introduce CNG-run buses

Agartala, Oct 1 (UNI) The Tripura government will introduce a number of CNG-run buses on various routes in the adjoining areas connecting this capital city.

The Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC), a government of Tripura Undertaking, has invited applications from interested parties to purchase buses and introduce CNG services on various routes.

The department invited applications for fifty such buses in the first phase. The application was invited by the TRTC a few days ago.

However, the CNG run vehicles, mainly the autorickshaws, are expected to start plying on the city's roads within this month as work for this purpose, including filling stations, are near completion, official sources said.

If successful, the state government would take a decision regarding introduction of such vehicles in other two major towns of the state --Dharmanagar and Udaipur in the North and South districts respectively.
